Visualisation Why Not Put It To The Test

Many athletes and sports people use visualisation within their training program. When Roger Bannister ran the four minute mile, he used visualisation to train and he ran the mile in his head several times before he actually put one foot on the track. Many professional golfers visualise their game before they even get near the green.

A lot of us think that we are no good at visualisation and yet we use it every day of our lives. If you are one of the non-believers lets just try a little experiment. Do you have a car? What colour is your car? what make is it? How many doors does it have? Is the steering wheel on the left or the right hand side? Now did you have to go out to your car or look through a window to know the answer to these questions. No! you saw it in your mind, the chances are you see your car every day and know it inside out. Take the same principle and see whatever you desire in your minds eye, hold the image, give it life, touch it, smelit, taste it, use all your senses to give it life and the more often you visualise it the quicker you will attract it into your life.

If you really have a desire to change your life, try visualisation for yourself, after all what have you got to lose?

Everything that has been invented in the world, first existed in someone’s imagination before it was ever manufactured.
From the smallest pencil to the biggest building.

Napoleon Hill in his famous book “Think and grow rich” is famed for saying “whatever the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve.” Many people have said that this is rubbish but it has been proven over and over again. Scientists and theologists now agree that this is the truth.

This is not a new concept it has been used since the beginning of time.

When you build the picture in your mind, you have to stick fast to it, no matter how bad things seem to get you must not get disheartened. Hold that image and keep building on the image, refuse to accept anything different and you will get it and more. Most people give up at the first hurdle and start doubting themselves, and the more they doubt the more they lose.

Think of it like this, if your washing machine suddenly started spilling water out of the pipes, you would have to get a mop and start mopping up the water. Do you expect to mop up the water with one single stroke of the mop? No of course you don’t, you would have to keep wringing the mop out and mopping again. Eventually though the water would be gone and the floor would be dry. When you started mopping what was the purpose? The purpose was you wanted to dry the floor. You have now achieved your purpose, by carrying out a few small actions.

That is another key to this secret, once you decide what you truly want, you build it by visualisation and then take inspired steps to achieve it. Do not worry how you will get it, you will soon find the way as long as you do not give up.
You will find that opportunities will soon appear and your goal will be reached.

Visualisation

Visualisation is extremely powerful.  It is a technique that uses the imagination to create particular states of mind.

Visualisation is becoming more popular in todays society as there has been a lot of study into the benefits of this technique.  It can be used for a wide variety of purposes.  For training the mind, improving the concentration, solving problems or for improving self confidence.  It is also used by some for healing and achieving spiritual enlightenment.

Visualisation is not just about imagination, even thougfh it uses the imagination to create mental images of things.

Visualisation also uses the other senses, smell taste, touch, hearing, sight, but as it also uses emotions too.

Extensive study has shown that some visualisations can manifest themselves on the physical level.

Visualisation can be used to help get over fear and phobias.  For example someone who has a fear of snakes

can visualise a snake climbing over them and feel the snake actually there and if the visualisation is clear enough they may find themselves tensing up and becoming hot and clammy.  They will probably find that they are breathing faster or even sweating or shivering.

The reason that this happens is that your body cannot distinguish between reality and and visualisation.

Have you ever gone to sleep and and suddenly woke up shuddering or with a start because you felt something

and yet there was nothing there. This is like visualisation, if the situation that you are visualising is stressful enough then it triggers your body’s natural defence mechanism so that you react.

When your body’s  defence mechanism kicks in your body shuts out all the other systems that it does not need for its immediate survival and starts pumping adrenaline and anti-inflammatory agents into your system and your body will hen be ready to fight for its survival.

The benefits of visualisation is that it can be used to achieve a different lifestyle.  For example when we dream about something that pleases us our brain produces endorphins and other pleasure giving chemicals into our bodies and we start to feel physical joy.  By using the same principal we can change all things that have negative impacts on our lives.

If for instance you have a fear of speaking in public and someone tells you that you have to do a speech, you could visualise yourself standing in front of an audience, speaking clearly and full of confidence.  You would see the audience smiling at you and listening to every word that you are saying.  You can then imagine yourself getting calmer as you are now starting to enjoy this and by the end of the speech the audience is applauding and you are feeling comfortable.

When you keep visualising this scene eventually the right side of the brain will associate public speaking with pleasure and the fear that you once had will disappear.

There are a lot of actors and other high profile celebrities that use visualisation to achieve their ambition, because  although it starts out as a thought in the mind it has very profound physical effects.
